Mr. Hasty is beginning is eighth year at ECHS.
Joseph is originally from Winder, GA where he was 1997 Graduate with Honors
from Winder-Barrow High School. While there, he was a member of the
W-BHS
Bulldog Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, and served as
Drum Captain and Band Captain. He was also active in National Honor
Society, Beta Club, Key Club, International Thespians Society, Drama, and
Chorus.
Mr. Hasty received his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the
University of Georgia in 2001. While attending UGA, he was a member of the
UGA Redcoat Band, Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, Symphonic Band, Percussion
Ensemble, African Hand Drumming Ensemble, Men's Glee Club and Steel Drum
Ensemble. He studied conducting with Dr. Dwight Satterwhite, Dr. John
Culvahouse, and Brett Baucum, as well as studied Percussion with Dr. Tony
McCutchen and Dr. Arvin Scott.
Joseph earned a Master of Music Education degree from VanderCook College of
Music in Chicago, Illinois in the Summer of 2006. His graduate work
included studying conducting with Dr. Charles Menghini and percussion with
Mr. Kevin Lepper.
Joseph's previous teaching positions include Percussion Coordinator of
Barrow County, Stephens County Middle School Percussion Instructor and
Director of Bands at Ebenezer Middle School.
His professional affiliations include National Association of Music
Educators, Georgia Music Eductaors Association, Percussive Arts Society, and
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

We are extremely excited to welcome Mr. Will Alford to the band staff this year. Mr. Alford is recent graduate of Columbus State University. While at CSU, he was a member of the Jazz Band, Trombone Choir, multiple chamber ensemblles and large group ensembles as well as a member of the CMENC, National Society for Collegiate Scholars, and Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity. Originally, from Warner Robins, Ga, Mr. Alford graduated from Houston County High School. While in high school, he participated in symphonic band, jazz band, marching band, and multiple honor bands. He is a trombone player. Mr. Alford is extremely excited to begin his band directing career here at ECHS.
Assistant Director: Tony Murray

Tony attended school in Effingham County, where he marched in the Rebel Regiment for 2 years, and in 1997 went to SEHS and marched with the Marching Mustangs, graduating with honors at SEHS in 1998. He played saxophone in the Wind Ensemble, and marched the Sousaphone in the marching band.
He received his BA in Music Education from AASU in 2003, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
While at AASU he participated in all musical ensembles including chorus, percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble and wind ensemble. He also coordinated and led the AASU Basketball Pep Band.
In 2003 he performed on stage with the world famous group "The Temptations." He maintains an active musical career performing jazz with a group he co-founded with Wes Perkins and Joseph Hasty. He is also presently a member of the Savannah Jazz Orchestra where he plays the saxophone and performs all over the state. They released a CD in 2001 titled "Satin Doll"
He has taught at Savannah Country Day School, and is presently the band director at Effingham County Middle School. This is his 6th year teaching in the Effingham County system and 6th year with the ECHS Rebel Regiment.
Assistant Director: Wes Perkins

Wes attended school in Effingham County, where he marched in the Rebel Regiment for 4 years, graduating with honors from ECHS in 1998. He played bari-sax in the Wind Ensemble, and tuba in the Symphonic Band his senior year. He also a member of the Rebelaires.
He received his BA in Music Education from AASU in 2003, where he graduated Cum Laude. While at AASU he participated in most of its musical ensembles including Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, jazz ensemble and wind ensemble. He was also a member of Savannah’s only professional choir, I Cantori and has performed as a bass soloist with the Savannah Symphony Orchestra and the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra.
He has taught at South Effingham High School with Mr. Ray Ellis and at Groves High School in Garden City, GA. Wes is presently the Director of Choral Activities at Effingham County High School. This is his 4nd year teaching in the Effingham County system and 4nd year with the ECHS Rebel Regiment.
